This is who I am.
I am someone who is forever searching for a way to satisfy an intense desire to create. To expose my life in every layer of paint and each mark upon the canvas. Trying to recall all that was good and all that was not - layer by layer. To honor the smallest glimmer of an idea, a beautiful memory, a lesson learned or a nostalgic moment. To observe what surfaces in the moment and decide to reflect upon it or release it.
My life exposed, covered up, sometimes revealed.
I received a BFA from the University of Michigan where I studied Art History, Dance and Choreography. I danced professionally and had the honor of teaching dance in the University of Michigan's Musical Theater and Theater Departments.
Growing up in the magical world of theater and dance I was exposed to so many gifted and talented artists. Collaborating with dancers, actors, choreographers, musicians, set, costume and lighting designers was such a rich experience. It was fascinating to watch how a small idea would unfold into something so beautifully inspired. My love for dance and theater is still a big part of my life and I still enjoy teaching and choreographing.
Drawing, painting, creating and dance have always been a part of my life. I draw upon the many methods I learned as a teacher and choreographer to make art. Research, gathering inspiration, honoring my point of view and sharing ideas. It is my hope that by sharing my techniques and practices you will be inspired and share your work as well. The more beauty we put into the world the more beautiful our world will be.
I currently live in Ann Arbor, Michigan with my husband Marc who continues to lovingly support all my creative dreams. Our beautiful, artistic and athletic daughter Olivia, and two very hungry cats, Jax and Gracie.
Thank you for taking the time to visit and I look forward to sharing my creative work with you.
